Drywall work that disappears once it is painted
Good drywall work is invisible. You should not be able to find the patch, see the seams or catch the outline of a repair when the afternoon sun hits the wall. Mejia Construction hangs and finishes drywall for remodels, repairs damage and matches texture in homes across Cathedral City and the Coachella Valley.

How we repair and finish drywall
- Protect the room. Cover floors and furniture and contain dust.
- Cut out damage. Remove damaged sections back to solid material and check that the framing is dry.
- Hang and fasten. Install new drywall tight to the framing with the right fasteners.
- Tape and mud. Embed tape, then apply multiple thin coats of compound, sanding between them.
- Texture. Match the existing pattern, or finish smooth.
- Prime and paint. Prime the new compound so the paint looks even, then paint to match.
Signs your drywall needs attention
- Brown or yellow stains on ceilings, often from a roof or AC drain leak.
- Soft, bubbling or crumbling spots near showers, sinks or windows.
- Nail pops and visible seams that show through paint.
- Cracks over doors and windows that keep coming back.
- Holes left behind after plumbing, electrical or a TV mount.
Drywall in Coachella Valley homes
Desert homes see big temperature swings between summer days and winter nights, and that movement shows up as hairline cracks at corners and seams. Air conditioning lines and roof leaks during the occasional monsoon storm are common sources of ceiling stains. In a bathroom remodel, we use moisture-resistant board in wet areas and proper backer board behind tile. When drywall is part of a larger update, it fits right into a home remodel along with floors and paint.
